About Tina Brosi

  • Biography

My paintings are figurative and simple. I like paintings which are simple even if they seems well constructed or complicated.

While painting self-portraits I'm analysing myself which is helping me to understand my emotions and fears. I like to capture serenity while painting portraits. The gravity is playing a part in many of my works, where water based colour has a dripping-like effect.

I grew up surrounded with nature, sea and the forest are my constant inspiration. My paintings of animals are a modern twist on traditional water colour, in them I try to portray warmth & fun.

When I create I'm completely at home using wide range of painting techiniques, experimenting with different techiniques at the same time. The main techniques that I use are watercolors, gouache, inks and oils.

I'm fascinated with transparency of colors which makes the paintings look soft, dreamy, light and delicate.

I'm painter, illustrator and musician. I was born in 1984 in Rijeka (Croatia) but I live and work in Milan (Italy). I obtained my B.A. and M.A. in painting from Academy of fine arts Brera in Milan.

......I'm influenced by Francesca Woodman, Marlene Dumas, Qi Baishi, Gerhard Richter, Morris Louis, Rainer Fetting, Art Nouveau, Expressionism, Victorian era, Pre-Raphaelite, Sumi and Zen painting, Mazzy Star, Cocteau Twins, Debussy, Jazz, Portishead, Sade, Proust and many more......
