For me, art is a bit like time travel… It is capturing a moment in time that you want to keep forever. I get up early, take my coffee and my camera with me wherever I go, and when I see a sight that causes me to stop for a moment, I know I want to keep that feeling. I am inspired by light and shadow, by birds flying overhead, by an old couple walking side by side down warm cobbled streets in Europe, by the sun warming an old stucco building and a child in the window. I plan blocks of paintings, usually of my travels, or of my local landscape in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, with its rich variety of woods, water and mountains. I travel to my family’s village in the Piedmont region of Italy every few years and am also very inspired by the beauty found in my travels and of my adopted country of Italy. Mostly, I strive to translate into paint, that feeling of wonder at the everyday world around me. I love the immediacy and versatility of oil paint and work in a variety of sizes. I have always lived in the beautiful state of Washington but have traveled all over the United States and many countries in Europe. My home is in a small rural town in Washington but is close enough to Seattle for a monthly dose of culture. I am drawn to Artfinder because of the breadth of artwork available. I believe that there is a style that resonates with each individual and that variety of work gives each person options to fit their own aesthetic. My formal training is limited to years of individual study and practice. I have taken many workshops and classes but am, for the most part, self-taught. My work has been included in many exhibitions and received awards and exhibited in solo shows.
