My work explores connections between colour, line and plant forms. Using the contents of our garden as subjects, I look at leaf outlines and how they relate to each other to make up the whole plant. Negative shapes between leaves and stems often feature in the work. The diaphanous nature of leaves and petals allowing sunlight to glow through them (particularly when backlit) is something I seek to capture through the use of semi transparent colours contrasted with more opaque tones
