I can never stay away from painting for too long. It is a constant desire, something that keeps burning quietly inside me and always brings me back to the canvas. I am drawn especially to painting women — women who are strong, beautiful and full of personality. I love capturing something beyond their appearance: their presence, their confidence, their individuality and the feeling that there is a story behind their eyes. I also love painting animals, finding in them the same sense of character and emotion that I look for in my portraits. I find myself completely absorbed in the process of painting. I love the anticipation of seeing an idea slowly become real, the layers of colour, the brushstrokes and the unexpected moments that happen along the way. At the same time, I always long for that final moment when I can step back and feel that the painting is finally complete. Painting is not simply something I do — it is where I feel most like myself.
