My name is Katie Worrell, I’m a 22-year-old contemporary artist from Hertfordshire, UK, whose work sits at the intersection of realism and surrealism. I attended Central Saint Martins in 2021, and graduated with a degree in Architecture in the summer of 2024, although found myself gravitating back towards the visual arts shortly after. Specialising in graphite, my pieces often feature iconic cultural figures rendered with photorealistic detail and layered with conceptual distortion. I aim to explore themes of identity, legacy, and the tension between public persona and private self. Influenced by pop culture, art history, and psychological portraiture. I use my technical ability not simply to replicate likenesses, but to reinterpret them, inviting viewers to reconsider the myths and perceptions surrounding celebrated figures.
