Hello, my name is Donald McLeman. I use elements of painting and collage with a range of materials for a free and loose feeling with a solid structure behind it.

I explore unlikely compositions and relationships, arrived at with instinct and emotion as well as trying things out and thinking things through. My technique juggles unforeseen juxtapositions of colour and shapes, the whole coming together with the aim to achieve a precarious but satisfying balance.

My influences may not be apparent… I keep coming back to Cézanne and Matisse.
