Biography
Fifi (Fatma Massoud) is a California-based abstract painter whose work explores color, movement, and the organic rhythms of the natural world. Working primarily with acrylic on canvas and occasionally incorporating oil in mixed-media works, she creates layered compositions inspired by flowing water, botanical forms, shifting light, and the vibrant colors found in nature.
A self-taught artist, Fifi approaches painting intuitively, allowing each composition to develop gradually through layers of color, blending, organic forms, and expressive movement. Her paintings often suggest abstract landscapes and atmospheric spaces, balancing spontaneity with thoughtful refinement.
Fifi presented her solo exhibition, Impressions Unseen, at Monade Contemporary Gallery in Kyoto, Japan, in June 2025. Her work has also been exhibited at Pacific Art League in Palo Alto and featured in numerous international virtual exhibitions, including exhibitions organized by Blue Koi Gallery, Gallery 4 Percent, and Fusion Art Gallery.
Her work has received recognition in several juried art competitions, including a Distinction from Gallery 4 Percent, Honorable Mentions from Blue Koi Gallery, and finalist recognition from Fusion Art Gallery and Blue Koi Gallery.
Fifi is a member of Pacific Art League and works from her independent home studio in Palo Alto, California. In addition to her studio practice, she shares her painting process and educational content through Fifi Art Studio, where she explores color, composition, painting fundamentals, and the creative process behind her work.
