About Barbara Calderwood

Biography

I am a printmaker with a design background. I did an MA in Industrial Design at the Royal College of Art in London. Following an international career in design, I took up printmaking as a new creative outlet. I am particularly inspired by plants, architecture, technology in the landscape and coastal and geological oddities. Anything that can deliver striking form and interesting surface texture. I work in lino and Japanese vinyl. A mixture of reduction and multi-plate techniques. My prints are handmade by me in my home studio. I use water-based Schminke inks on acid-free archival paper. I have been selling steadily through FROM gallery in Thame, Oxfordshire; the Oxford Art Society Open Exhibition, and by word of mouth, for several years now.
