Artworks by Anika De Souza

Anika De Souza is a Kingston-based visual artist specializing in calligraphic abstraction. Originally from Germany, she studied Graphic Design in Hildesheim, near Hanover, under the renowned calligrapher Gottfried Pott. Her work explores the expressive potential of writing beyond words, blending gestural mark-making, cut-out techniques, and abstraction to transform language into a visual experience.

Anika has exhibited as part of Kingston Artists Open Studios for the past two years and will be participating again this year. She has also showcased her work at The Other Art Fair in 2024 and 2025. Her pieces are now part of private collections, and she continues to expand her practice, experimenting with raw canvas, surface textures, and the interplay between line and form. She currently works from her home studio in Kingston.
