About Inna Medvedeva

Biography

Hi, my name is Inna Medvedeva. I am self taught artist, living in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
I don’t remember when I started to draw. When I was a child. Sometimes there were breaks. For instance, when I studied economics at the university.

I used to draw with a graphite pencil and liked monochrome drawings. Then the book “How to draw in pastel” fell into my hands, I bought an inexpensive set of pastels, and so my love with pastels started. I fell in love with color. Modern professional pastel sets provide ample opportunities for drawing bright pictures of completely non-pastel colors.

At the moment, pastel is my favorite art material. I like its tenderness and velvety texture, especially in portraits. In order not to lose this lightness, I don’t use a fixative, which makes the work more fragile, but airy, and under the glass in the frame it is reliably protected from damage.

Although pastel is my favorite, I also use oil, but less often. What inspires me is the world around me and the art of other artists. I'm still in search of genre and style.
