About Natalia Johansson

Biography

Natalia Johansson

Natalia Johansson studied at the Mukhina Art Academy from 1985 to 1990. From 1991 to 1994, she lived and worked in Norrbotten and Lapland. Since 1994, she has lived and worked as an artist in Sweden.

Natalia Johansson works in a variety of artistic techniques, including oil, acrylic, watercolor and mixed media. Her motifs are often, although not always, abstract and are based on compositions of geometric shapes and objects that create relationships with one another. In addition to painting, Natalia also works with design and sculpture in ceramics and glass.

“I am inspired by everything I see in front of me. Sometimes it can be small towns that I visit, and sometimes gatherings of people. There are many different impressions that give impulses to the motifs in my artworks. I try to stylize what I see and create my own way of painting. I am very interested in different combinations of colors, how they work together and what effect they can create on a canvas.”

Natalia Johansson has exhibited her work extensively in Sweden and internationally. Her exhibition history includes exhibitions in Norrbotten from 1992 to 1995, jury exhibitions at Upplands Väsby Art Hall in 1999, 2000 and 2001, and exhibitions and art fairs in the United States, Spain, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria and Sweden.

Her international exhibitions include Palm Beach, Barcelona Euroart, Inter Artexpo in New York, the New Artist International Salon in Zürich, the Sausalito Art Festival, the Salt Lake City Museum of Art and History, Artfair Salzburg and Artfair Copenhagen.

In Sweden, her exhibitions include Galleri Mimer in Stockholm, Nykvarn Gallery, Skillinge Gallery, Köping Art Hall, Galleri En Trappa Ner in Gothenburg, the Autumn Salon in Kista, Sigtuna Museum, Affordable Art Fair Stockholm, Gamleby Art Hall, Nynäshamn Art Pool and Eksjö Museum.

Her more recent exhibitions include Gamleby Art Hall and Nynäshamn Art Pool in 2023, followed by an exhibition at Eksjö Museum in 2025.
