Abstract Composition (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Natalia Johansson

80 x 80 x 2cm (unframed) / 80 x 80cm (actual image size)

£1,200

An expressive painting that resembles a handmade patchwork quilt, composed of many different fragments and motifs assembled into a vibrant whole. The surface is made up of overlapping pieces depicting a human figure, a mysterious mask, leaves and botanical shapes, fragments of newspaper, and handwritten or printed sheets of paper.

The color palette is dominated by light blues and greens — turquoise, soft sky blue, mint green, and pale green — combined with warmer areas of yellow, ochre, beige, and brown. Some sections feel worn and aged, like old pieces of paper that have been found and incorporated into the artwork.

The motifs are partly recognizable and partly dissolved, allowing the figure, mask, leaves, and text fragments to blend into abstract areas of color. Visible brushstrokes, torn paper edges, and varied textures create a mixed-media collage effect. The overall feeling is poetic, mysterious, and personal — like a visual memory assembled from many small fragments.
