I have been a practicing artist for the past 20 years. Painting is part of my life and look forward to waking up in the morning and heading into my studio ready to confront the exciting creative challenges and investigations through the physical act of the painting process itself.
Nature is a very big influence in my practice. Past projects include Rockscapes and Landscapes I have been working on a series of work combining painting and drawing at a place named white rocks at Alamanos in Cyprus
These paintings and drawings investigate landscape and rockscape that are connected through line and the painting process. My new work continues the dialogue between the painting process and the picture and appear more gestural and more intuitive and explore the idea that a painting could be fulfilled in a simple self investigation of the medium. In some of my paintings I will add simple motifs and letters over layers of paint and different washes to create a narrative where the yiayia continues her journey though each painting.
Walking most days has become the fundamental starting point for her work capturing both the physicality of moving through space tracing the routes, tracks , paths and textures documenting the shifts and movements that shape and pattern the natural terrain. Drawing and sketching are crucial to this process and then transformed via her memories and thought processes. She works mainly in oil paint , charcoal , ink , oil stick watercolour on canvas , paper, newsprint and cereal boxes.
I like to Accept nature for what it, therefore putting everything into perspective for me.
“Today as a society we our constantly seeing life through a screen not accepting time as now, thinking about the past and future...”
“I am painting rocks that I see, the conflicting idea of being at the edge of the land excites me, calms me but also it terrifies and torments me.”
I believe Artfinder would give me a more international platform to market and promote my art work.
