I am Guzel, an artist living in Japan. My current series is dedicated to the Japanese lotus — a symbol of life’s eternal cycle and the graceful rhythm of the changing seasons. I cherish the profound depth hidden within their apparent simplicity. Much like a Japanese haiku: concise, quiet, yet deeply resonant with the spirit of nature.

In my current series of works, I turn to the image of the Japanese lotus – an ancient symbol of purity and the continuity of life. The pond space becomes for me a metaphor for the dialogue between nature and humanity.

Into this environment, I place handmade paper origami forms – silent messages. They carry traces of human life: anxieties, the search for hope, and inner strength in a rapidly changing world. Ancient plants, whose seeds can germinate after a millennium, and a freshly bloomed flower seem to invite the viewer to pause, feel the moment, and simply be.

Here, every detail acquires meaning: the shadow of a person, a bird flying by, a feather fallen on the water. All this helps us remember our true essence beyond the noise and endless race of life.

Life changes, but it does not disappear.
