Dong Lin Zhang completed a fine arts degree from the Shanghai Normal University. He also taught fine arts at Donghua University (previously ‘China Textile University). Dong Lin moved to Australia in 1987 where he currently resides.
Notably, Dong Lin’s main work ‘The Birthplace of Shanghai School Culture (6m x1.8m)’ was collected by the Government and printed on post cards by China Post. Dong Lin’s ‘Guangminghang (8mx2m) was collected by Jiangsu Technology Group. Many other pieces of work have been purchased by galleries and private collectors in Australia, America, England and China. Donglin's works have won many awards, including 《After work 》 won the "Committee Choice Award" at the 2024 Moonee Valley Art Show, and 《After work Rush in Melbourne 》 won the Best Traditional Work Award under or equal 1.5 K at the 2024 Camberwell Art show,《Sunset at Flinders Station 》won DACE Art Exhibition 2024 best small works prize etc
