About Abiola Wabara

  • Biography
I love painting. it brings me a sense of peace and joy I can't find anywhere else.
As a black kid that grew up in Italy in the 80's and 90's  I didn't have many that looked like (aside from my immediate family) me to look to and to see my self in. I started painting what I found beautiful in my culture, and I used my art as an escape, as a way to express my self and leave for a little without having to really go anywhere. The majority of my subjects are women, but in my subject i try to encompass emotions and feelings that come from the state of mind i was in when I painted them.
