About Kenson Low

  • Biography

I have been producing artwork professionally for over 25 years as an artist, illustrator, designer, concept artist and prop designer/builder. Born and bred in London, studied Illustration at Leicester, and now work and reside in the South West of England. As well as my own artwork practice, I also work running creative art sessions in a mental health hospital in Devon, as part of the occupational therapy department.

I generally paint in oils and my paintings, reflecting my illustration background, are often images or environments that for me could be a scene of a story or adventure. Accordingly I try to convey an atmosphere or mood in the images I produce. I love the local natural landscape here in the south west of England, but have also always had a particular interest in industrial and urban scenery and architecture, perhaps a reflection of my love of science fiction.

As an exercise, I am presently attempting to complete at least one "plein air" study each week as well as my studio work, driving out to various locations around Dartmoor and the southwest.
