Biography
I am a textile artist, the main influences of my work being the natural colours, forms and textures of the North Yorkshire moors and heritage coast where I live. My work is largely landscape-based, exploring the effects of layering and heat-distressing, using a huge range of fabrics. These are all hand-dyed to create a beautiful blend of colour and texture, stitched together using metallic threads. I layer fabrics and then cut or melt them back using a heat tool to create texture and reveal what lies beneath. Each piece is highlighted with delicate beading.
I have had a lifelong interest in art and textiles . Since graduating, I have worked in art education as well as showing in many exhibitions both group and solo, making work for galleries and commissions. My work is exhibited at The Art Cafe Contemporary Gallery in Whitby and has sold to collectors from all over the UK and beyond.
