  • Biography

    I love painting animals. Especially animals in action; exploring in paint a sense of dynamic  movement or explosive energy as a dog leaps for a ball or the alert poise of a hare as he listens to the wind.

    Animals in the environment allow me to explore my love of landscape, the abundant variety and form in nature provides a rich and vibrant tapestry of colour and texture, light and shade that is exciting to paint. When I'm painting domestic animals I really want to explore their personalities, that quirky essence that makes each one a unique individual. I want to capture that and bring that special character to the painting.

    I work in oils and acrylics and I particularly love colour. Recent I've started to work with mixed media, using ink, watercolour, acrylics and pastels applied with brushes, knives, pens and other objects to build up a more interesting paint surface.

    I do take commissions. Please do contact me if you'd like any more information.
