About Jason Robert Jones

  • Biography

In terms of the direction I take creatively with my work, I try to share moments of tranquil quietude. Compositions that are simple in nature and don’t overload the senses. A visual that invokes a sense of mystery or an inquisitive nature in the viewer. I don’t really try to suggest something specific; more convey a sense of feeling or emotion.

For me a photograph represents a singular moment or span of time distilled down into a single frame. A moment or time span that will never exist in quite the same way again, so for all it’s characteristics that suggest reality the photograph is not an accurate representation of reality. It’s a representation of the photographers view point at a given moment, or a span of compressed time.

I feel that Photographing in black and white has allowed me to separate even more so from reality as this is not how we actually view our world. We see the world in color but B&W deals in monochromatic tones between Shadow and highlight. It’s an opportunity to escape the everyday and share an expression without the distraction of color.

I seek out quiet solitude, minimal stimuli, and try to tap into awareness of my fundamental senses when producing my work

Artists Process -  Jason Robert Jones photographs all his work on film using both large and medium format film stock. He will typically use Kodak T MAX 100 or Tri X 400 depending on the desired look for the piece. All limited edition fine art prints are born from a single film negative, which are developed In-House and then drum scanned on a Heidelberg Tango-Primescan, PMT Drum Scanner, producing a master digital negative.

Limited edition fine art prints are produced using archival materials and carbon based monochromatic inks. All prints are framed by Jason Robert Jones in order to insure top quality archival methods are used throughout the entire process. Each print is hand signed, numbered, titled, dated, and embossed with a custom mark. All prints are accompanied by a Collectors Certificate designed to complement the distinct identity of your limited edition fine art print. Each certificate is made of premium handmade deckle edged cotton rag paper. The combination of certificate and a specific print detail affixed to the back of each frame assures that each Collectors Certificate relates to one particular piece of art.

Limited Edition collections run in editions of no more than 50 prints and 3 Artist Proofs. Most prints are 10”x 10” however some editions may contain a limited number of 30”x 30” prints. Regardless of print size no edition will exceed a maximum print run of 50 and once sold out will never be made available again.
