Poppy Fields Linocut by Layla Khani (aka Laylart)
38 x 38cm (unframed) / 30 x 30cm (actual image size)
£240
Artwork description
Poppy Fields is an original hand-pulled reduction linocut inspired by summer meadows filled with poppies and the rolling landscape around my Malvern Hills studio.
The composition moves from distant fields and trees towards a foreground filled with scarlet poppies, creating a sense of depth, colour and open landscape. I wanted to capture that point in summer when the meadow feels completely alive.
I created the work using the reduction linocut technique. Each colour is printed from the same lino block, with more of the surface carved away between every layer. The process continues until the image is complete and the block can no longer be used to reproduce the full design. This makes the edition finite.
This print is from a limited edition of 27. Each impression is inked and printed by hand, so small variations in colour and texture are part of the character of the work.
