A Gust of Wind Linocut by Layla Khani (aka Laylart)

A Gust of Wind is an original hand-pulled linocut filled with movement, colour and small narrative details.

Trees bend, leaves scatter through the air and tiny houses and figures appear across a layered landscape. Bold areas of turquoise, green, purple and black give the composition a strong graphic quality, while the repeated shapes and marks create a sense of rhythm throughout the image.

I wanted the print to capture the feeling of a landscape suddenly brought to life by the wind, with different elements shifting and moving across the scene.

Each impression is individually inked and printed by hand, so slight variations in colour and texture are part of the character of the work.
