A Glorious Spring Day Linocut by Layla Khani (aka Laylart)

Spring in Bloom is an original hand-pulled linocut inspired by the changing colours of the English countryside in spring.

Two white cottages sit among rolling fields, trees and a foreground of purple wildflowers. Strong carved lines lead through the fields, while fresh greens, soft yellow and touches of purple give the landscape the feeling of a new season beginning.

I wanted to capture that early point in spring when colour starts returning to the countryside and the fields begin to come alive again.

Each impression is individually inked and printed by hand, so subtle variations in colour and texture are a natural part of the work.
