Tide of Autumn Leaves Linocut by Layla Khani (aka Laylart)

In the Tide of Autumn Leaves is an original hand-pulled linocut inspired by the changing colours and patterns of the countryside in autumn.

Small white cottages sit among rolling fields and bare trees, while long carved lines sweep through the foreground and across the hills. Warm browns, ochres and muted greens give the landscape a strong autumn character, with touches of pale blue leading the eye through the composition.

I wanted to capture the rhythm of the fields at this time of year, when the colours soften and the structure of the landscape becomes more visible.

Each impression is individually inked and printed by hand, so subtle variations in colour and texture are a natural part of the work.
