Hills Above the Shore is an original hand-pulled reduction linocut inspired by rolling hills, scattered cottages and the patchwork rhythm of the countryside.

The composition brings together layered fields, small houses and stylised trees in earthy reds, fresh greens and golden tones. I wanted the landscape to feel structured but still full of movement, with the repeated shapes of fields and hills carrying the eye through the scene.

I created the work using the reduction linocut technique. Each colour is printed from the same lino block, with more of the surface carved away between every layer. The process continues until the image is complete. Because the block is progressively destroyed during printing, the edition is fixed and cannot be reproduced again once sold out.

Each impression is individually inked and printed by hand, so small variations in colour and texture are part of the character of the work.
