Poppies Unveiled is an original hand-pulled reduction linocut inspired by summer poppy fields and the rolling landscape around my Malvern Hills studio.

Sweeping bands of scarlet poppies move across the hills, contrasted with soft greens, lilac tones and distant trees. I wanted to capture the abundance and energy of a field in full summer, while keeping the openness and rhythm of the landscape.

The print was created using the reduction linocut technique. I work from a single lino block, printing one colour before carving more of the surface away for the next layer.

This continues until the image is complete. Because the block is progressively destroyed during the process, the edition is fixed and cannot be reproduced again once sold out.

Poppies Unveiled is from a limited edition of 26. Each impression is individually inked and hand printed, so slight variations in colour and texture are part of the character of the work.
