About Deimante Bruzguliene

Biography

Deimante Bruzguliene is a Lithuanian-born artist based in the United Kingdom, specialising in highly detailed wildlife and animal portraiture. Working primarily in soft pastel, alongside acrylic and oil, she is known for her realistic approach, meticulous detail and ability to capture the character, emotion and presence of her subjects.

Animals have been at the heart of Deimante’s work from an early age. Her fascination with wildlife, particularly big cats, has developed into a distinctive artistic style combining realism with emotional connection. Rather than simply reproducing an animal’s appearance, she seeks to capture its individuality — the intensity of a gaze, the tenderness of a quiet moment, or the strength and dignity of an animal’s presence.

Her pastel works are created through carefully built layers, allowing her to achieve remarkable depth, texture and fine detail. Fur, light and expression are central to her work, with particular attention given to the eyes — often creating an immediate and intimate connection between subject and viewer.

Deimante’s work has received international recognition through exhibitions, awards and publications. Her artwork Leopard was exhibited at the London Art Biennale 2023 and selected as the cover artwork for Artist Portfolio Magazine, Issue 52. Her work has also been selected as a finalist in the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation’s Wildlife Artist of the Year, the British Art Prize, the International Guild of Realism and the American Art Awards, alongside numerous international juried exhibitions and competitions.

In 2024, Deimante was featured in the UK’s Artists & Illustrators magazine in an editorial spotlight exploring her artistic practice, inspirations and passion for portraying the character and soul of animals.

Her work has also been selected by Artfinder’s curatorial team for Editors’ Picks collections, including Best of November 2022, featuring Leopard, and Artfinder Exclusives, featuring Freedom.

Deimante’s original artworks are held in private collections internationally. Each piece is individually created by hand and supplied with a signed Certificate of Authenticity.

Through her art, Deimante seeks not only to portray the beauty of animals, but to reveal something of their individual character and spirit — creating works that invite the viewer to pause, connect and look beyond the surface.
