Silent Majesty
Silent Majesty is an original pastel painting celebrating the quiet power, beauty and extraordinary presence of wildlife.
I have always been fascinated by the contrast between strength and stillness in wild animals. With this portrait, I wanted to capture that moment when an animal is completely calm, yet its presence remains powerful and commanding.
The expression and eyes are the emotional centre of the painting. Rather than portraying aggression, I wanted to create a sense of dignity, intelligence and quiet confidence — a connection between the animal and the viewer.
The artwork was created entirely by hand using professional artist-quality pastels on paper. I work gradually through many layers, building subtle changes in colour, light and texture before adding the finest details. This slow process allows me to create softness and depth while preserving the individual character of the animal.
For me, wildlife portraiture is about much more than achieving realism. My aim is to capture something of the animal's spirit and personality — to create a presence that can be felt as well as seen.
