Lemurs
Award-Winning Original Pastel Painting
Lemurs is an original pastel painting capturing the extraordinary character, curiosity and expressive nature of these fascinating animals.
Their remarkable eyes immediately inspired me and became the emotional focus of the composition. I wanted to create the feeling that while we are observing them, they are equally curious about us.
Each animal has its own individual expression and personality, yet together they create a strong sense of connection. This relationship between animals — their silent communication, curiosity and individuality — is something I continually explore through my wildlife art.
The painting was created entirely by hand using professional artist-quality pastels on paper. I gradually built the portrait through many layers, combining soft passages with extremely fine individual strokes to create depth, texture and the natural appearance of the fur.
Particular attention was given to the eyes and facial expressions, where I wanted the strongest connection between the animals and the viewer to occur.
