Tulips, is a mini reduction Linocut print, capturing the beautiful sherbet colours of this little bunch of flowers.
I loved the sunset colours, and it's a great permanent flower gift.

A reduction linocut is a totally handmade print. No machines are used. Only one piece of Lino is used throughout the process and so no prints can be reproduced.

I draw the image I want to create on the Lino, in reverse. Using carving tools I take away all the lightest parts which will be the colour of the paper, I then ink up the Lino with a colour and press this onto some thick printing paper. Anything I want to be that colour I carve away and ink up the next colour and so the process goes until the image appears.

This print went through this process 8 times, to achieve the final image. I used oil based Caligo artist inks and the paper is Somerset velvet in soft white.

Paper size is approx 16.2 x 20.2cm and the image size is 10.2 by 14.6 cm. This will fit a standard 6" x 4" photo frame.

Materials used:

lino, inks, rollers, press, paper, cutting tools

  • Linocut on Canvas
  • From a limited edition of 6
  • Size: 16.2 x 20.3 x 0.1cm (unframed) / 10.3 x 13.5cm (actual image size)
