Somnium III (2023) Original Oil Painting by Angela Suto

29.7 x 42 x 0.1cm (unframed)

1 Artist Review

£600

Somnium III introduces a male profile into the series, held in a moment of concentrated inwardness. The closed eye, tightened mouth and sharply modelled planes of the face give the stillness a physical tension; this is not peaceful sleep, but thought turned away from the visible world. Warm browns soften into the untouched paper, allowing the figure to feel both sculptural and transient. The portrait occupies the narrow border where consciousness remains present but has stopped explaining itself.

Oil on 290 gsm paper, 29.7 × 42 cm. Unframed. Signed on the front and back. A signed Certificate of Authenticity is included.
