I am a Vienna-based contemporary artist working primarily with acrylic painting. My practice is inspired by the landscapes, wildlife, history and cultural memory of Austria. In my ongoing series Chromatic Austria, I reinterpret familiar Austrian places through expressive colour, simplified forms, energetic brushwork and textured palette-knife painting. I am interested not in reproducing a landscape exactly as it appears, but in exploring how a place can be remembered, felt and transformed through colour. Mountains, lakes, forests, animals and culturally significant locations become starting points for paintings that move between representation and abstraction. Colour plays a central role in my work. I often replace naturalistic colours with strong contrasts and unexpected combinations in order to express atmosphere and emotion. I work mainly with acrylic paint on canvas, using both brushes and palette knives to build layered surfaces, visible marks and areas of texture. I have developed my artistic practice through continuous studio work and art courses in Vienna, and I am currently studying Art History at the University of Vienna. My work has been presented in exhibitions in Vienna, and my paintings are held in private collections internationally. Studying art history alongside my own painting practice continually encourages me to examine how landscape, colour and cultural memory can be interpreted in contemporary art. I would like to join Artfinder because of its focus on original art and independent artists. I see Artfinder as an opportunity to present my contemporary interpretation of Austria to an international audience and to build long-term connections with art lovers who value original, personally created works of art.
