- Whitby Sunset
Original artwork description
As the sun sets over Whitby, the ruins of the Abbey emerge beneath a crimson sky. Whitby Sunset is inspired by the Whitby Abbey, the Gothic landmark overlooking the Yorkshire coast and famously associated with Bram Stoker's Dracula.
I wanted to capture the feeling surrounding the place, the mistery, solitude and romantic darkness I felt visiting the place. The beauty of the fading light and the feeling that a darker story might be waiting just beyond the frame.
There is something about Whitby at dusk that feels as though it belongs to another time.
