I created The Grooming as an exploration of the quiet architecture of care. In this piece, the act of styling hair is stripped of its vanity and presented as a foundational ritual of connection. It is a space where time slows down—a meditative exchange between the one who tends and the one who is tended to. The bold, textured brushwork on the figures contrasts with the stillness of the deep green background, mirroring the intensity of the bond shared in these private moments.

Through the rhythmic motion of the hands and the patient, reflective gaze of the child, the painting captures the transmission of identity and the silent language of devotion that exists within the domestic sphere. I aim to celebrate the "structural" resilience found in these daily acts of love, honoring the hands that shape us, one braid at a time. The Grooming is a tribute to the maternal and communal bonds that provide a steady foundation for our evolving sense of self.
