Original artwork description
The Future Contortion is an original mixed-media painting on canvas, 102 x 102 cm (40 x 40 inches), by London artist Ryan Louder.
A dense sandy-ochre haze fills the lower register as three foreground figures emerge with different degrees of clarity: a crouching pale form on the left, a luminous central figure holding a cross-like staff, and a dark cloaked watcher to the right. Behind them, an indistinct surge of riders and phantom horses charges across the midground beneath a towering silhouette rising against the far edge. The palette is stripped back to bone yellows, burnt umber, raw charcoal, and near-black, punctured only by two isolated points of cool blue. In the hypnagogic state, scenes assemble out of smoke and memory rather than logical perspective — things happen all at once, urgent and unstilled.
This is a direct visual recording of perceptual dissolution, not metaphor. I have painted over 2,000 works, with over 1,000 originals sold.
