Acrylic and oil on canvas
18" x 24"
2013
Persephone is the Greek queen of the underworld and one of my favorite themes in art. This piece is part of a series of abstract/figurative works I created called "Mythologique", in which I attempted to capture sensations and feelings from ancient Greek myths and stories. In "Persephone" I wanted to transmit a duality death/life and cold/warmth, to represent the goddess attachment to both the realm of the dead and the life that returns in Spring.
