A quirky and reflective sculpture of a small figure with a large O, prompting questions about its deeper significance.
A small sculpture that brings its own distinct narrative into our world and environment. Created in a beautiful innovative British eco-resin that is contemporary and affordable.
The “O Man” has found his “O,” whatever that may be, and having been re-united with that essential part of himself, he has stopped to consider it. It is simultaneously hollow and complete, and he has found wholeness through being with his reality, rather than through trying to avoid it.
I made this sculpture by modelling with wax onto a wire armature, or framework, and then I moulded and cast it using an innovative technique that I have pioneered. You can see pictures of me casting sculpture in this way in my “Me at Work” section of my Profile.
O-Man is made of a beautiful translucent British eco-resin, so that the figure is creamy in colour, reflecting the wax that he was originally made in, and the O is a vibrant green. The translucent material allows for interesting glimpses through to the armature, or internal structure of the sculpture, and it is mounted on a semi-translucent almost black flat acrylic base. The sculpture is 13cm long, 14cm tall, and 12cm wide including the base, and is for sale as a limited edition of 24. It is initialled on the inside of the bottom of the O, and comes with a signed letter of authentication stating its edition number.
This sculpture is relatively durable and can withstand small knocks and movements in the home. Being made in a light-weight material, it weighs less than half a kilo and is easy to transport and move about. I package it in a sturdy cardboard box and it travels very well by courier.
