Artwork description
In the face of the decline of religious and spiritual traditions, Credo. is a project that explores
the emergence of new beliefs and spiritualities. At the intersection of shamanism, a blend
of popular superstition, a resurgence of witches and wizards, animism, and the ecofeminist movement, new forms of spirituality are taking shape.
Perhaps trees speak to us, cats see things we will never see, and the stars might show us the way?
So I get caught up in the moment, drawing inspiration from here and there, venturing into the exercise of self-portraiture, and well, it’s a good start on this journey.
It’s less about asserting a belief than about opening a passage—toward a possible otherworld,
nestled in the interstices of reality.
The project takes the form of a hybrid body of work combining paintings on photographs and digital interventions. The images, first printed on photographic paper, are reworked with pastels and markers. Each print is therefore unique. This back-and-forth between media creates a space of transition: an image leaves its initial state to enter another, as if crossing a threshold.
