Biography
I paint small, strange, glowing worlds: night skies, a blossom tree in my garden, half-remembered landscapes. Each one feels like a window, or a fragment of a bigger scene that carries on beyond the frame.
My works are painted on heavy weight canvas and sandpaper. The rough surface catches and scatters light, so the colour glows from within and shifts through the day. Hang one on your wall and you’ll see something different at breakfast than you do by lamplight.
I’ve been painting for forty years, since I was bitten by the painting bug and never recovered. I studied Fine Art (BA and MFA), have exhibited in the UK and internationally, and my paintings now hang in private collections across the UK, Europe, the USA, Canada and Asia.
I never settle into one way of working. Paint does unexpected things as it settles and dries, and I chase that. If I can surprise myself, there’s a chance I’ll surprise you too.
Most of my work is intimate in scale, made for real homes: a hallway, a dining room, above a bed, in a child’s room. It’s the kind of painting you keep noticing new things in.
Browse the collection, and if one stops you in your tracks, it’s probably meant for your wall. Want something specific? I also take commissions, so get in touch.
