Starry Starry Night (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Tim Smith

29.5 x 35.5 x 2cm (unframed) / 29.5 x 35.5cm (actual image size)

£300

I love the idea of Van Gogh painting the view from his room in the asylum at Saint-Rémy. He painted wherever he could, and his output in his final year was extraordinary. I became interested in the bars as a way of breaking the space between interior and exterior, and in how they spark ideas of escape. This small painting is my response to that: a window, a boundary, and the pull of what’s beyond it.

I painted it in acrylic on a recycled beech wood panel, partly because I like the idea of working on any surface. The edges are kept clean, so the natural wood grain shows if you’d like to keep it. The bold colours will brighten a bedroom, hallway, living room or any small space.

This is an original acrylic painting on recycled beech wood panel - unframed, with clean edges 1cm deep accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity and packaged well protected bespoke sturdy box.

I paint small, strange, glowing worlds: night skies, a blossom tree in my garden, half-remembered landscapes. Each one feels like a window, or a fragment of a bigger scene that... Read more
