Biography
Born in 1985, Sarah Bouillaud is a visual artist and photographer. She graduated from Lycée Brassaï and the Icart Photo School in Levallois.
Her photographic work constantly explores the boundaries between reality and fiction—a realm where imagination and play take center stage, and where images are manipulated with complete freedom.
Within this self-created space, she uses her own photographs as raw material to build worlds in which viewers are invited to find echoes of their own experiences.
Specializing in photomontage, she divides her time between editorial illustration commissions for the press (Libération, L’Humanité, Le Monde, La Croix, L’Obs, among others), therapeutic photography workshops, and her personal projects, which are regularly exhibited and screened.
In 2013, her work was selected for the SFR Jeunes Talents Award. In 2017, she participated in the Les Rencontres du 10ème festival with her project Le Voyage Fantastique. In 2019, her series Odissea was screened at the Voies Off Festival in Arles.
In 2020, her lockdown diary De l’autre côté du miroir was selected and exhibited at the Hangar Art Center in Brussels as part of Brussels Photo Festival 05. In 2021, her work was presented at the Shanghai PhotoFair. In 2025, her project Credo. was exhibited at the InCadaqués International Photography Festival in Spain.
In 2023, Odissea was exhibited at the Polka Factory in Paris, and in October 2024, the photobook Odissea was published by Éditions Révélateur.
