You Should leave Now
Oil painting 30 x 30 (x 4cm deep edge stretched linen)
An oil painting with loose painterly brush strokes and a textured surface. The overall blue tones give a cool atmosphere whilst highlighting the slightly warmer tones of her skin; her eyes appear to shine bringing her to life. She is open-mouthed, obviously in the process of saying something: ‘You should leave now’.
Current work examines emotion and perception through fictitious characters and de-contextualised dialogue.
Although my image source is usually a photograph I am not trying to create a photo-realist work in any way but rather a re-interpretation of that photo as a painting. I am interested in exploring what happens to the image through the process of applying the paint.

Paintings are shipped stretched and ready to hang with fixtures on the back of the stretcher and signed on the back of the canvas.
