Within Her Silence (2025) Original Ink Drawing by Nicol Vacaru

Within Her Silence is an original black ink drawing on paper featuring several female profiles layered within the same flowing composition.

I created the figures through repeated curved brush movements rather than fixed outlines. As the ink layers overlap, different profiles gradually appear inside one another.

I wanted the image to suggest the many thoughts, memories and versions of ourselves that can exist quietly within one person.

The contrast between strong black marks and untouched paper keeps the composition graphic and minimal, while the repeated lines give it movement and depth.
