When the Light Comes Back came from my love of those ordinary moments when a landscape suddenly feels lighter. There isn't a dramatic sunrise or a spectacular view here. Instead, the warmth appears quietly among the cooler blues and greens.
I worked loosely with the watercolour, allowing the colours to meet, separate and disappear into the paper. I left parts of the paper untouched because I wanted the light to feel as though it was already present rather than painted in. For me, the painting is about hope in its simplest form - the quiet sense that things are beginning to brighten.
