What the Mind Keeps is an original black ink drawing on paper built through sweeping, layered brushstrokes.
The profile is partially hidden by bands of ink that move across the head and face, while small openings of white paper interrupt the darkness. I wanted the figure to feel present but not completely accessible — as if part of what defines her remains somewhere inside.
For me, the work is about what we carry mentally and emotionally: memories, thoughts, questions, and experiences that become part of us without always being visible.
The drawing combines a recognizable human profile with expressive abstraction, allowing the movement of the brush to become as important as the figure itself.
