Twice in Silence (2025) Original Ink Drawing by Nicol Vacaru

Twice in Silence is an original black ink drawing on paper featuring two female profiles layered within the same flowing composition.

I created the figures through repeated brush movements rather than fixed outlines, allowing the two faces to emerge gradually from overlapping black lines.

Although they share the same direction and visual rhythm, each profile remains separate. I was interested in the feeling of two presences existing quietly beside — or within — one another.

The contrast between strong black gestures and untouched paper keeps the work bold while preserving openness and movement.
