A friend and I enjoyed an afternoon of birdwatching in central Kentucky, and we were very pleased to come upon two kestrels perching in a sycamore tree. In late winter, the leafless trees gave us a good view and an opportunity for pictures. This male kestrel seemed to model for us, sitting atop a dead branch of the tree. This painting is based on a photograph I took of this magnificent bird.
Acrylic on canvas. This painting is sold unframed, though I have included a picture of the painting framed to give an idea of what it might look like in a dark wooden frame.
