Reaching to the largest, brightest fruit on the lower branches, a young woman stands on tip-toes and lifts her transparent, gauzy dress.
She is accompanied by her spirit, or maybe a friend or a relative, or a memory of another time - the second self's hands, and gaze, mirror hers.
I've added gold detail in the coloured dress, its shiny quality is visible in one of the photographs taken at an angle. Their dresses become as one; the pink, blue and gold of the foreground figure is cradled by the transparent paleness of the other.
I've included a series of photographs of the progression of 'Treasure' - originally it was going to simply be a painting of a woman reaching to a fruit tree - an expression of a natural treasure - I'd been inspired by watching my daughter picking apples from a tree in our garden, but as I worked another figure made its presence felt, a shadow at first, then it became an older woman, now, finally the two figures are a similar age.
Painted on canvas covered board, I've retained areas of the natural canvas and chose the subtle blue, pink and gold to contrast / complement this neutral background.
Unframed but ready to hang (with little hangers on the reverse); sent by tracked delivery.
I'm selling it unframed so the purchaser can frame it to suit the home decor; I've created Computer Generated Images to show how it might appear framed dark but it would look equally good in a pale frame.
