  • Biography
Welcome to my Artfinder shop ...
my inspirations have always been romantic love, literature and landscape, expressed in various mediums ~  watercolours, acrylics, chalk pastels and limestone.

I have arranged my artworks so:
pages 1 - 4 ... most recent works which are mainly acrylics on canvas and watercolours on handmade paper: these are a combination of figurative and landscape.

pages 5 and 6 ... Chalk pastel images, feline pencil drawings from 2012 and earlier.

pages  7 - 10 ... stonecarvings, giclee prints from iPad drawings, ink drawings, hand-coloured linoprints from the 80s and early 90s, as well as a small selection of my most popular tiny hand-printed wood-engravings

pages 9 - 11 ... sold artworks, mostly, but not all, sold on Artfinder.

    A little about me:
I was born in rural County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, and began exhibiting in 1976 when I graduated from Belfast College of Art, where I had studied Fine Art Painting with a postgraduate year spent in Printmaking (specialising in etching, engraving and linoprinting).

Since then I’ve been a professional artist and illustrator:
from 1976 - 1992 my studio was based in London's East End at an exciting time when there was a lot of available, affordable studio space; my home was my studio in a whole street of short-life housing for artists. This enabled me to raise my three children and devote myself to my career, working at home and exhibiting widely over Ireland and the UK.

Since 1993 the beautiful county of Lincolnshire in England's East Midlands has been my home.  Our house is backed by tall beech trees and has a marvellous view to the east over the open land towards the coast. Since I relocated here, landscape has played an increasing role in my artwork. The drama of the huge open skies in this relatively flat land and seeing the sun and moon magically captured in the trees never fails to inspire me.

Over these 43 years I've exhibited in many solo and mixed exhibitions:
in the 90s I was proud to be one of seven artists representing Northern Ireland in Hong Kong.  I am also thrilled to have been the recipient of two Arts Council Awards  ~  a photography award in my early career and then what was a suprerb mid career boost - an award to learn stonecarving in 2003, just in time for my fiftieth birthday!

My works are in many private collections in the UK, Ireland and Japan:
since 2015 I've wholly embraced selling my artworks online and thanks to Artfinder my works have been collected by individuals from Australia to USA.

You will find a list of my exhibitions and samples of my illustration work on my personal website (the link is in my bio). These days I illustrate occasionally, the last large project was a set of nine watercolour illustrations for a Danish author, due to be published in late 2019.

Please feel free to contact me should you wish to enquire further about any of my works listed here.
