Memory (2024) Original Stone Sculpture by Phyllis Mahon

Limestone carving of a woman's face with closed eyes; her hair, as it flows around becomes trees at the back of the sculpture.

I have photographed the finished artwork sitting on my garden wall with the large beech trees behind, because they are my constant inspiration. To show its size beside an adult cat I have included a photo with Sophie-Cat in it! On the top of the carving, there's a little hint of a leaf resting in her hair, which I have highlighted with a spring of greenery resting beside it.
Two other photos are taken in my hallway, one with a tape measure to show its size, as well as the carving standing on my Liberty-print kitchen tablecloth, and a couple of my signature and title on the base of the stone.
